Hello
A Bit About Me
My name is Huntington Cotten and I am a senior French and International Health major with a minor in Nonprofit Leadership. Throughout my time at Clemson University, I have been involved in many on campus organizations like Volunteers4Life, Pre-OST Club, and greek life. I have also completed an international internship with a clinical decision support and workflow management company based out of Paris, France, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Lyon, France, and I have completed a multitude of French, health science, and nonprofit organization related courses to prepare me for my future endeavors. My international internship experience taught me a lot about cultural workplace norms, the nature of a startup business, and so much about the field of health technology. My eyes were opened to the ways in which our cultural bias affects healthcare delivery and the differences in what is seen as most important when making healthcare decisions based on different backgrounds and cultures. My time studying abroad in Lyon also gave me another unique experience in truly being immersed in a new culture. I was pushed outside of my comfort zone on multiple occasions, but developed a deeper understanding and appreciation for French culture while abroad. Living and studying abroad is something that I will never forget. Additionally, my French and health studies have given me a unique perspective on the world around me. I have had the opportunity to study both the French language and the healthcare systems in depth. I now have a deeper understanding of both sectors, and how they intersect. My studies have given me a more global and unique perspective of the world that I plan to take into my future as an Occupational Therapist. Finally, my Nonprofit leadership minor has given me insight into the sector of nonprofit organizations, and the true humanitarian work that they can achieve. I have learned so much about how nonprofit organizations help to close the gap between what is currently offered to society, and what is needed for it to flourish. All of my experiences at Clemson have given me an invaluable perspective, and I am so thankful for everything that I have had the opportunity to participate in and learn about. Upon graduation from Clemson University in May 2023, I will attend MUSC's Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program. The experiences that I have had as a Language and International Health student at Clemson University have given me a global perspective and many invaluable cultural experiences that I will cherish for a lifetime.
